OREANDA-NEWS. President Vladimir Putin discussed with the members of the Russian Security Council his recent contacts with the DPRK leader Kim Jong-un, the results of the talks in Beijing, as well as the situation in Venezuela. This was reported by the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov, reports the Russian media.

“Much attention at the meeting was paid to the situation in Venezuela in the light of the incoming news of the attempted coup d'état in this country,” he said. Venezuelan Minister of Communications and Information, Jorge Rodriguez, on April 30 announced a coup d'état in the country. The authorities, according to his data, are trying to "counteract and neutralize a small group of servicemen-traitors."

The first summit of Putin and Kim Jong-un was held at the end of April in Vladivostok. The Russian president noted that the leader of the DPRK seemed to him a rather interesting conversationalist. During the meeting, according to Putin, they discussed “different sides” of interaction between Moscow and Pyongyang, as well as issues related to sanctions affairs, relations with the United States and the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. Then Putin went to Beijing, where he took part in the “One Belt - One Way” forum. Within its framework, the Russian president held talks with PRC Chairman Xi Jinping.

The meeting was attended by the Chairmen of the Federation Council and the State Duma Valentina Matvienko and Vyacheslav Volodin, Head of the Kremlin Administration Anton Vaino, Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov, Director of Foreign Intelligence Service Sergey Naryshkin, Special Representative President Sergey Ivanov on environmental protection, ecology and transport.
