Putin Congratulates Tokayev on Kazakhstan's Independence Day

OREANDA-NEWS. Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a telegram to Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev on the occasion of Independence Day. This is reported on the Kremlin website on Thursday, December 16.
It is noted that the Russian leader praised the success achieved by Kazakhstan in economic, social, scientific, technical and other spheres, and also noted the country's high standing on the world stage.
"Relations between our states are developing dynamically in the spirit of strategic partnership and alliance. Bilateral cooperation in various fields, as well as cooperation within such structures as the EurAsEC, CSTO, CIS, SCO, and UN,"- the president stressed.
Putin expressed confidence in further consistent strengthening of constructive Russian-Kazakh ties for the good of the friendly peoples of the two countries and in the interests of stability and security on the Eurasian continent.
On July 24, Putin discussed bilateral cooperation and regional problems over the phone with Tokayev. It was noted that the talks took place in a friendly manner.
In May, the State Duma ratified a military cooperation treaty between Russia and Kazakhstan, which was signed in Nur-Sultan in October 2020 during a meeting between the two countries' defence ministers, Sergei Shoigu and Nurlan Yermekbayev.
It was specified that cooperation would be carried out on a wide range of issues, including military education and training, the supply of weapons and equipment, participation in joint bilateral and multilateral exercises, combat training activities for troops, as well as in peacekeeping activities, improvement of the bilateral legal framework, culture and sports.
In late April, Russia and Kazakhstan signed a comprehensive programme of economic cooperation between the governments for 2021-2025. The parties signed a number of documents on mutually beneficial cooperation.
