OREANDA-NEWS  Russia proceeds from the fact that the UN is the only universal international organization, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, opening a meeting in the Kremlin with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

"This is a key element of the entire international system today," Putin said.

"This is how we approach the Organization's activities and the problems associated with its development," the Russian head of state noted.

Putin noted that he was glad to have the opportunity to talk with the UN Secretary General about current activities and development prospects.

He recalled that he recently met with Ban Ki-moon in Bucharest.

According to Putin, Russia's relations with the United Nations are of the closest nature. The President added that Russia is not only the founding country of the United Nations, but also the most active participant in all the processes that are taking place.
