OREANDA-NEWS. The relationship between Russia and China is a true example of cooperation in the 21st century, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a video conference with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The broadcast was hosted by the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

"I am glad to be able to get into a live video link with you. This allows for a thorough discussion on the development of Russia-China relations, comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation,"- Putin said.

According to the Russian president, the consistent implementation of the Treaty of Good Neighborhood, Friendship and Cooperation, which is being extended for a new five-year period, has brought the countries' relations to an "unprecedentedly high level."

Xi Jinping, for his part, pointed out that Sino-Russian relations at a time of great changes in the world have shown "strong vitality" and have withstood various tests.

The talks between the two leaders via video link began earlier on December 15. The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced an online summit between Putin and Xi Jinping two days ago.

The previous conversation between the leaders took place on August 25. Putin and Xi Jinping discussed by telephone the situation in Afghanistan, where the Taliban (banned in Russia) terrorist organisation has seized power, as well as bilateral cooperation.
