OREANDA-NEWS  The seaport of Mariupol is being restored in order to increase the transshipment capacity of the grain complex and other types of cargo, the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

"The port is an important logistics center for transshipment of agricultural products. In this regard, we are now focused on carrying out repair and restoration work to increase the transshipment capacity of the grain complex and other types of cargo," Pushilin said.

He noted that new platforms for loading grain are being equipped at the berths, all parts of the process are being optimized, and specialized equipment is being updated. New cargo traffic is also being developed, in particular building materials on pallets.

"The restoration of facilities will allow grain products arriving at the seaport by both road and rail to be accepted and promptly shipped to ships," the head of the DPR stressed.

Answering a question about ferry service with Krasnodar Territory, Pushilin said that these plans are being worked out with Rosmorrechflot with the definition of specific measures that will contribute to the development of the seaport.

"The seaport of Mariupol is included in the Register of Seaports of the Russian Federation with an indicator of the capacity of cargo sea terminals of 3.44 million tons. There are a total of 22 berths in the port: 18 trucks and four auxiliary ones," Pushilin noted.
