OREANDA-NEWS Far-right organizations in Japan are holding protests at the Russian Embassy in Tokyo on the anniversary of the USSR's entry into the war against Japan on August 9, 1945, RIA Novosti correspondent reports from the scene.
When exiting the metro station closest to the embassy, there is a noticeable accumulation of police. Police buses stand along the roadway, and employees stand at intersections and do not allow minibuses of far—right organizations to turn towards the Russian diplomatic mission.
They drive through the neighboring streets and shout slogans through a megaphone. If the volume level exceeds the norm, vehicles are stopped. In front of a RIA Novosti correspondent, such a minibus was stopped for excessive volume. His driver tried to shout his displeasure into a megaphone that "this is the only embassy that is so guarded," but this demarche was quickly stopped. Protesters with banners are allowed to enter the street closest to the embassy only in threes and in a tight ring of police in order to avoid provocations on their part and in a ratio of about one to five. They are allowed to stand on the opposite side of the embassy and make complaints or read a petition without megaphones. Only one person is allowed to deliver the petition to the embassy itself.
