OREANDA-NEWS  The Governor of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kozhemyako at a meeting with the vice-governor of the Chinese province of Heilongjiang Yu Jiang announced plans to form a working group to discuss the construction of a new bridge between the border points of Poltava and Dongning, the press service of the Primorsky government reported.

On Sunday, a delegation from Primorye went to China. Before departure, Kozhemyako told reporters that the purpose of the trip was to strengthen ties with the Chinese border provinces of Jilin and Heilongjiang.

"We will form a working group and talk about the construction of a bridge on the border of Poltava — Dunnin," the press service quotes the statement of the governor of Primorye.

The head of the region also said that the Primorye side "very positively" assesses the proposals of Chinese colleagues "to improve the possibilities of railway transport communication, the construction of additional railway lines, allowing to increase the additional capacity of the crossing."

Kozhemyako himself proposed to extend for four hours the operation of the Border crossing points — Suifenhe, Poltava — Dunning and Turiy Rog — Mishan "with the prospect of further transferring them to the round-the-clock mode."

There is already a bridge crossing between Poltava and Dunnin. This bridge, built in 1993, is subject to flooding due to the rise of the water level in the river under the influence of typhoons. In February 2018 , the Government of the Russian Federation approved a draft agreement on the construction of a new bridge between the checkpoints Poltava and Dunnin
