OREANDA-NEWS. Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-Och will talk about the results of the 34th Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the G20 Osaka meeting, and will also hold discussions with colleagues from Japan, Australia and India. This was stated by the Deputy Director General of the Department for International Economic Affairs Nikorntech Balankura.

According to him, the prime minister will share his vision of the region’s prospects, which was discussed at the ASEAN summit in Bangkok last weekend. Prayut Chan-Ocha will go to Japan on Thursday to attend the G20 summit on Friday and Saturday as the Prime Minister of Thailand and the Chairman of ASEAN. "Thailand’s agenda is the result of planning for the short, medium and long term in order to create continuity. From June 22 to 23, the 34th ASEAN Summit was held in Bangkok. The leaders of the association countries endorsed the outlook for the Indo-Pacific region with ASEAN leading role, adopted the Bangkok Declaration on combating marine debris in their region and announced a partnership for sustainable development. The meeting also discussed the position on the Comprehensive Regional Economic Partnership.

The G-20 summit will be the fourteenth in history and the first to be organized in Japan. The forum itself will be held from 28 to 29 June at the international exhibition complex INTEX Osaka on the artificial island of Sakisima in the Gulf of Osaka. In addition to the leaders of the G20 states, the prime ministers of Vietnam and Thailand, Singapore, the Netherlands, the presidents of Egypt, Spain, Senegal and Chile are invited to Osaka. The meeting will be attended by heads of leading international organizations, including UN Secretary General António Guterres, World Bank President David Malpas and Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde.
