OREANDA-NEWS Russian potato producers have reduced prices by almost a quarter over the year, or by 23.5 percent, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.
In addition, butter and sunflower oil have sharply fallen in price in the country — in 12 months they have fallen in price by 1.8 and 13.8 percent, respectively. Salt, on the contrary, has risen in price by 3.5 percent, but if you track the change in prices since the beginning of the year, its value has fallen by 0.2 percent.
As for meat prices, the Ministry of Agriculture once again recognized its rise in price, calling this phenomenon "seasonal". The department predicted that the cost of meat will go down in September. By the end of June 2023, the cost of a kilogram of chilled and frozen chicken meat increased by 6.8 percent and reached a historical record of 193.48 rubles. In a conversation with Forbes, experts explained this dynamic by the reaction of producers to the "chaos" of the first half of 2022, when, against the background of international sanctions, chicken meat producers had problems with the supply of feed, equipment, veterinary medicines from foreign suppliers.
The weakening of the ruble also affects prices, Kommersantfm found out. The fact is that meat producers buy spare parts, raw materials and even seeds abroad, on which agricultural production depends.
