Poll Showed That 60% of Uzbeks do Not Want to Leave Russia

OREANDA-NEWS. 60% of citizens of Uzbekistan working in Russia do not plan to return to their homeland, said Azizbek Yunusov, deputy head of the Agency for External Labor Migration of the republic, referring to a survey conducted by the organization. At the same time, 24% of workers will consider leaving Russia only if they lose their jobs, Interfax writes.
Of the 15,000 respondents, 24% said they were working and would consider returning if they lost their jobs, 36% said they had an employment contract and were not thinking of returning, Yunusov said.
About 15% of survey participants have already lost their jobs and decided to leave. For 25% of Uzbeks, the depreciation of the ruble was the reason why they wanted to leave Russia.
Statistics showed that since the beginning of 2022, 133 thousand labor migrants have returned to the territory of Uzbekistan from Russia. In March, their number was 50,000.
On March 30, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting in China with the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov. Then the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted the efforts of the Uzbek partner in the development of relations between states.
