OREANDA-NEWS. A further increase in the number of people infected with coronavirus will lead to the collapse of the medical system in Ukraine, with which the state will not be able to do anything, President of the country Volodymyr Zelensky said.

On August 21, the system for monitoring the spread of coronavirus of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine reported that the number of detected cases of COVID-19 over the past day grew by 2,106.

“We are already on this wave of more than two thousand, it is very dangerous… We cannot… make only infectious diseases hospitals and put beds there and re-equip all hospitals. Therefore, an increase in the number of infected people… will simply stop medicine completely, and the state will not be able to do anything,” Zelensky said during his visit to the Nikolaev Region. The politician urged Ukrainians to be careful and wear masks.

Earlier, the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine reported that in total, 100,643 cases of coronavirus infection were registered in the country. 2,207 people died, 51,078 recovered.
