OREANDA-NEWS. The Chinese military must be ready for war, President Xi Jinping said during a visit to a military base located in the province of Guangdong, addressing to the marines.

The politician’s words were quoted by the official Xinhua News Agency. “We must direct all our minds and energy to prepare for war and maintain a state of high alert,” the President of the People’s Republic of China said. According to him, servicemen must be absolutely faithful and reliable.

He also called the Marine Corps an elite unit created to protect China’s national sovereignty, security, territorial integrity and interests. Xi Jinping added that this unit needs to be strengthened.

Earlier, the US Department of Defense reported that the People’s Liberation Army of China has succeeded in surpassing the American army in at least three spheres. It was noted that China is already overtaking the USA in warships, medium-range cruise and ballistic missiles and integrated air defense systems.
