Vladimir Putin Was Invited to Washington
OREANDA-NEWS The White House invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to Washington. This was stated by Advisor to the President security John Bolton.
Bolton visited Russia on October 22-23. He held talks with President Putin, including on the US withdrawal from the Treaty on intermediate-range missiles.
During the visit, the parties confirmed that Putin and Trump will meet in Paris on November 11 at the celebrations on the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War. Bolton noted that the Paris meeting of the Russian and American leaders will be brief.
In an interview with radio Liberty, Bolton added that during a meeting with Putin, he "reiterated President Trump's invitation to President Putin to visit Washington early next year."
Earlier, Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that the Russian and American sides agreed to hold a "normal bilateral meeting" of the presidents of Russia and the United States in Paris.
The first full-scale Russian-American summit was held in Helsinki on July 16 this year. As a result, Vladimir Putin said that the first step was taken in "clearing the rubble" in relations between Russia and the United States. After the meeting, the US President instructed Mr Bolton to invite Vladimir Putin to Washington. On July 27, the President of Russia invited Donald Trump to Moscow.
At a meeting in Paris, Mr. Putin invited the US President through his adviser when he was on a visit to Moscow.
According to Bolton, the US will do what it deems necessary, including considering new sanctions in response to Russia's interference in the US elections and the annexation of Crimea from Ukraine. "It would be inaccurate to say that we are not going to impose new sanctions against Russia," he said.
