OREANDA-NEWS. The US Treasury has imposed sanctions against three Russians and one Ukrainian. They are said to be involved in meddling in American elections.

Anton Andreyev, Artem Lifshits and Darya Aslanova from Saint Petersburg and the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrii Derkach are under the restrictions. The American authorities believe that Russia was trying to influence the US presidential candidates.

The report of the US Treasury claims that the Russians are associated with the “troll factory”, Internet Research Agency financed by Yevgeniy Prigozhin. The agency stated that Derkach was previously a Russian agent, associated with the Russian special services and involved in foreign interference in the elections.

“The United States will continue to use all the tools at its disposal to counter these Russian disinformation campaigns and uphold the integrity of our election system,” Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said.
