OREANDA-NEWS. US authorities decided to lower the status of Russia in terms of exports of American sensitive goods and technologies. Until the present, Russia has been in the A group, like the vast majority of Western countries. Soon it will be transferred to the category D connected with concern regarding the export of nuclear and missile technologies.

It follows from the amendments to the country classification of the Bureau of Industry and Security, a division of the US Department of Commerce, which will enter into force on February 24.

As a result of these amendments, the United States will no longer issue licenses for the export to Russia of materials that can be used to make chemical or biological weapons, technologies that are dangerous from the point of view of nuclear proliferation, and missile technologies (including ballistic missiles, launch vehicles, as well as unmanned systems: cruise missiles, reconnaissance drones, etc.). Americans will be prohibited from supplying such systems to Russia.
