Ukrainian President Fired TCG Member Who Refused to Become an “Enemy of Russia”
OREANDA-NEWS. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on the withdrawal of Vitold Fokin, who was the first head of government of independent Ukraine in 1991–1992, from the delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) to resolve the situation in Donbass.
The decision to dismiss Fokin was explained by his “unacceptable statements” about the lack of direct evidence of Russia’s participation in the war with Ukraine and the impossibility of becoming an “enemy of Russia.” “It is obvious that everyone who represents the state must always remember that the official matters should not be confused with the personal ones. If there are differences in positions, and your own vision, whatever it may be, differs from the state’s vision, you should choose the state’ position as long as you represent the state. […] Especially as the official position of Ukraine fully coincides with the objective reality and political truth,” the Ukrainian President’s Office explained.
