OREANDA-NEWS. The Armed Forces of Ukraine should be prepared for the scenario of a forcible return of control over the Donbass. This was announced on January 20 by the deputy head of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Sergiy Krivonos.

“Such an option is not excluded if a political decision will be made. And we must be ready for this. We are working on developing measures to liberate our land – I emphasize: our land,” Krivonos said.

The official also noted that there is a set of measures necessary to make such a decision. In particular, they include strengthening sanctions pressure on Russia, developing the territorial defense system of Ukraine and strengthening the army. “Then, after strengthening sanctions and weakening Russia, we must understand that we have the opportunity to free our territories by force. If Russia will not do anything to support the separatist units,” Krivonos concluded.
