Ukrainian Delegation Interrupted the Speech of Russian Deputy at the UN Forum
OREANDA-NEWS. Members of the Ukrainian delegation interrupted the speech of Ruslan Balbek, the deputy of the State Duma of Russian Federation from the Crimea at the 12th session of the forum devoted to minorities issues. The event is being held on November 28 and 29 in Geneva under the aegis of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
The head of the Ukrainian community of the Crimea Anastasia Gridchina told journalists about the incident. According to her, the members of Ukrainian delegation interrupted Balbek’s speech with “knocking letter plates” and lodged a protest against the delegation from Crimea to the secretariat. “The secretary has deprived an official delegate from Russia of the right of speech,” Gridchina said. She added that, for unknown reasons, her own speech on the human rights to education in minority languages did not take place.
Gridchina also reported that the Ukrainian delegation interrupted the speech of the representative of Serbia after he said that he was in the Crimea and, in his opinion, “the rights of neither the Crimean Tatars nor the Ukrainians are violated”.
First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Federation Council of Russia Vladimir Dzhabarov said that Moscow must protest because of the incident with Balbek. According to the senator, “hooligans” must bring an apology to the Russian party.
The member of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Sergei Tsekov said that the behavior of the Ukrainian delegation was not unexpected. “Pay attention to the political discussion in Ukraine over the past 30 years… They have such a cultural level now, there is nothing unexpected on their part,” the politician stated.
