Ukraine Will Put Up for Auction Russian Ship "Nord"
OREANDA-NEWS Earlier, the Ukrainian Prosecutor's office reported about the transfer of the Russian vessel "Nord" to the national Agency of Ukraine for search and management of assets obtained from corruption and other crimes. According to the Prosecutor's office, this decision was made to preserve the budget allocated for the maintenance of the vessel in the port of Berdyansk.
Against the captain of the vessel Vladimir Gorbenko in Ukraine opened a criminal case, he was accused of violating the order of entry "into the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine and exit from it in order to harm the interests of the state." Gorbenko was taken into custody, and then released under a personal obligation to appear to the investigator on demand. At the end of August, a lawyer representing the interests of the sailors, said that the case of bringing the crew of "Nord" to administrative responsibility closed.
"The vessel "Nord" was transferred to the Agency ARMA (national Agency of Ukraine for detection, search and management of assets obtained from corruption and other crimes) for sale at auction, " — said in a statement of the Ombudsman's office in Facebook.
At the same time, it is noted that the representative of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for human rights in the southern regions Vladimir Ostapenko and the Secretariat employee Vyacheslav Bondarenko "ensured compliance with the right" to the property of the sailors of the vessel "Nord". In particular, they described the personal belongings of the seafarers who were on the ship and drew up an appropriate act.
Ukrainian border guards on March 25 detained the Crimean vessel "Nord" under the flag of Russia in the sea of Azov with 10 crew members. All of them are citizens of Russia, but Kiev considers them Ukrainian citizens. Two crew members managed to return to the Crimea through Belarus, seven were removed from the flight to Minsk. The captain of the ship is charged with "violation of the order of entry into the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine and departure from it in order to harm the interests of the state", he faces up to five years in prison.
