OREANDA-NEWS. Ukraine will not Buy the Russian Vaccine «Sputnik V», but will Buy «BioNTech/Pfizer», «Sinovac», «AstraZeneca» and «Novavax». This was stated by the President of the country Volodymyr Zelensky. He explained this decision by the lack of confirmation of the effectiveness of the Russian vaccine.

According to him, Ukraine will receive up to 1 million doses of the vaccine in February, and 10 million by the summer. To increase public confidence in vaccinations, the President of Ukraine, according to him, is ready to be vaccinated together with the military as the supreme commander. He also said, that the situation with the spread of coronavirus in Ukraine has stabilized.

Meanwhile, on February 2, the scientific journal «The Lancet» published the preliminary results of the third phase of research on the «Sputnik V» vaccine. The publication of Russian experts says that after receiving the second dose, the effectiveness of the drug is 91.6 percent.

In Ukraine, 2,141 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection were detected during the day, 47 patients died. According to the Minister of Health of Ukraine Maxim Stepanov, the total number of cases of infection in Ukraine since the beginning of the epidemic amounted to 1,246,990 people, 23,644 patients died, 1 million 75 thousand 743 people recovered.
