Ukraine Sent a Note of Protest to the Russian Embassy because of the Parade in Sevastopol
OREANDA-NEWS. The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine sent a note of protest to the Russian Embassy in Kiev in connection with the holding of the parade of units of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the city of Sevastopol on the occasion of the Day of the Russian Navy.
The document published on the agency’s website says that Kiev regards the parade as a “violation by the Russian side of international law, including numerous resolutions of the UN General Assembly, as well as Ukrainian legislation.” The Foreign Ministry condemns “illegal demonstration… of military power” and actions “to further militarize the temporarily occupied… territories.” Ukrainian diplomats emphasized that the organization of the fleet parade is “another illustration of Russia’s deliberate steps to escalate tensions in Ukrainian–Russian relations.”
