Ukraine and the Lugansk People’s Republic Started a Withdrawal of Troops
OREANDA-NEWS. The representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the People’s Militia of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) launched white signal flares near the town of Zolotoye which means their readiness to resume the withdrawal of forces. It was reported by the Lugansk Information Center.
Earlier on October 29, the beginning of the separation of forces from Zolotoye was announced by Vladislav Deinego, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the authorized representative of the LPR at the talks in Minsk. According to him, in the republic they learnt about Kiev’s readiness to withdraw troops from Zolotoye only two hours before it began. He also noted that the LPR was ready for it, since the withdrawal of militants was planned on October 7th. This date was approved by the contact group in Minsk at the beginning of the month.
The beginning of the withdrawal of troops in Zolotoye was also confirmed by Vadym Prystaiko, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. According to him, the separation of forces will occur in the territories that were agreed at the meeting of the contact group in Minsk. The politician added that such actions are also planned in the town of Petrovskoye if a ceasefire is kept in Zolotoye. Prystaiko noted that in the Zolotoye area, the latest shelling took place more than ten days ago. According to the minister, the beginning of the separation of forces in Petrovskoye area is possible in seven to ten days.
Prystaiko recalled that the withdrawal of troops and weapons from these settlements is a condition for holding a summit in the “Normandy format” (Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France). According to the Foreign Minister of Ukraine, the preliminary date for this meeting has already been selected, but he will not name it, because not all parties have given confirmation. Prystaiko expressed hope that the summit will be held before the end of November.
