On April 14, Foreign Minister of Turkey, Mevlut Cavusoglu claimed that Ankara is ready to purchase American missile defense systems Patriot on certain conditions. “We are ready to buy Patriot if there is a good offer,” the politician said during a video conference broadcast on Twitter.

He also noted that position of the country’s leadership on resolving the issue of Russian complexes S-400 has not changed. According to Cavusoglu, Turkey needs missile defense systems to protect the people, since the threat of a missile strike is real.

The Foreign Minister recalled that the decision of the Turkish authorities to purchase Russian systems was the result of the failure of ten years of negotiations with the United States.
