Turkey Called for Quadrilateral Talks on Nagorno-Karabakh
OREANDA-NEWS. Turkey offered to hold quadrilateral negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in the unrecognized Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh with the participation of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia. This was announced by Ibrahim Kalin, spokesperson of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“Since Russia is on the side of Armenia, and we, Turkey, support Azerbaijan, let’s four of us meet to discuss the solution of these problems,” the politician said. According to him, the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe over the past 30 years has not been able to find a solution to resolve the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, so it is necessary to start looking for a new mechanism.
On October 9, after negotiations held in Moscow at the initiative of the Russian side, Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed on a ceasefire from 12:00 local time (08:00 UTC) on October 10 to exchange captives and bodies of the dead. Later, both sides accused each other of violation of the truce.
