OREANDA-NEWS. Former presidential candidate in Belarus Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya claims that the refusal of the leader of the republic, Alexander Lukashenko, from power is just a question of time.

In an article published on the electronic version of The Washington Post, Tsikhanouskaya confirms that she still does not recognize the official results of voting in the presidential election in the republic held on August 9. She added that as a candidate from the opposition movement, she received the majority of votes in the election. In this regard, Tsikhanouskaya declares the opposition’s intention to continue holding protest actions in Belarus. “We insist on peaceful protest and we refuse to engage in violence,” she assures.

According to her, “many people ask if that will be enough.” “I believe the answer is yes. We as a nation have passed the point of no return. Lukashenko has no future as a leader of this country, and it is only a question of time until he leaves power,” Tsikhanouskaya concluded.
