OREANDA-NEWS. Former presidential candidate Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya declared that she is ready to become the national leader of Belarus.

In a video message, the opposition politician noted that she is going to release all political prisoners, prepare the legislative basis and all conditions for organizing new presidential election in the country. “We all want to get out of this endless circle, in which we found ourselves 26 years ago,” Tsikhanouskaya said. “I am ready to take responsibility and act as a national leader during this period so that the country calms down and returns to a normal rhythm.”

Tsikhanouskaya was the main opponent of the incumbent President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in the presidential election. According to the final data of the Central Election Commission, Lukashenko gained 80.1 %, Tsihanouskaya 10.1 %. Her headquarters does not recognize the election results. Tsihanouskaya left Belarus for Lithuania.
