OREANDA-NEWS. A court in Washington sentenced American political consultant Roger Stone to 40 months in prison.

According to the judges, Stone is guilty of false testimony, attempt to interfere with the investigation by the US Congress and intimidation the witness. The Stone case was part of an investigation to identify cooperation between the Russian special services and the campaign headquarters of the current US President Donald Trump.

Stone was an adviser to Trump during his 2016 presidential race. He was detained on January 25 last year. It was rumored that he tried to buy materials stolen by hackers from WikiLeaks that could compromise Trump’s rival in the 2016 election, candidate from the Democratic Party Hillary Clinton.
