Trump Refused to Guarantee a Peaceful Transfer of Power in the United States
OREANDA-NEWS. US President Donald Trump refused to guarantee a peaceful transfer of power to his rival, Democratic candidate Joe Biden, if he loses the election scheduled for November 3. So he reacted to the question of the journalist during a press conference at the White House.
“Well, we’ll have to see what happens. You know that. I’ve been complaining very strongly about the ballots. And the ballots are a disaster,” the politician said. CNBC clarified that Trump meant a vote by mail; previously he expressed the opinion that the election results in this case would be rigged. “Get rid of the ballots, and you’ll have a very – you’ll have a very peaceful – there won’t be a transfer, frankly, there’ll be a continuation,” the President added.
Biden’s representatives, commenting on Trump’s words, noted that the American people will determine the election results.
Trump has previously said that his rival would win the election only if the vote is rigged. He also suggested that the results are likely to be challenged in the Supreme Court.
According to the poll data service RealClearPolitics, 42.9% of Americans are ready to support Trump, 50 % are ready to support Biden.
