Trump Announced the Resignation of the US Attorney General
OREANDA-NEWS. US President Donald Trump announced the resignation of the country’s Attorney General William Barr. The head of state wrote about this on Twitter. He attached a copy of Barr’s resignation letter to the post.
“Just had a very nice meeting with Attorney General Bill Barr at the White House. Our relationship has been a very good one, he has done an outstanding job! As per letter, Bill will be leaving just before Christmas to spend the holidays with his family,” Trump wrote.
The President noted that the current First Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen will temporarily act as the head of the US Department of Justice. His position will be replaced by Richard Donoghue, who got a job at the Justice Department this summer.
Trump’s report that Barr resigns were released several minutes after it was revealed that members of the US Electoral College named Democrat Joe Biden as the new head of state. Trump had not previously admitted defeat in the presidential election and challenged Biden’s victory in the courts. However, Barr claimed that the election was held without violations.
