The White House Warned of Change in Relations with Moscow because of the Oppositionist Navalny
OREANDA-NEWS. If the version that one of the leaders of Russian political opposition, Aleksey Navalny, was poisoned is confirmed, this may affect relations between Washington and Moscow. This was stated by the US National Security Adviser, Robert O’Brien.
“It’s extraordinarily concerning,” the politician said in an interview with Fox News. According to him, if it turns out that “the Russians were behind this,” the United States will take this into account when determining its policy towards the Russian Federation. O’Brien said that he considers Navalny to be a very courageous man. “He is a very courageous politician to have stood up to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, and our thoughts and our prayers are with him and his family,” he added.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that Washington is closely monitoring the situation around Navalny after reports of his possible poisoning.
On the morning of August 20, Navalny became ill on the airplane during the flight from Tomsk to Moscow. The liner urgently sat down in Omsk, the oppositionist was taken to the hospital. He lapsed into a coma. According to doctors, his condition is stable; he is on artificial lung ventilation machine.
