The White House Published a Report about Trump’s First Conversation with Zelensky
OREANDA-NEWS. On November 15, the White House published a document titled “First Conversation Had Between President Trump and President Zelensky of Ukraine” which restores the content of the talk between US President Donald Trump and elected Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky on April 21, 2019.
The publication was announced by Trump the day before. It is noted that the document is not a transcript, the conversation between the two leaders has been restored by the White House employees who are responsible for recording the conversation. The accuracy of the document was influenced by a number of factors, including the quality of telephone communications and features of the translation.
During a conversation, the American leader congratulated Zelensky on his victory in the presidential election. The politicians discussed the possibility of Trump’s visit to the inauguration. American President invited his interlocutor to the White House, noting that Washington supports Kiev.
Media report that Trump called the election of Zelensky “fantastic” and “incredible” and also mentioned participants in the Miss Universe contest from Ukraine. “I agree with you about your country, and I look forward to it (Visit to Ukraine. – Ed.). When I owned Miss Universe, they always had great people. Ukraine was always very well represented,” Trump said.
In total, two telephone conversations took place between the presidents. The second conversation carried out in July provoked a scandal in the United States later. Some persons claimed that the head of the White House put pressure upon the Ukrainian leader persuading him to begin an investigation of the activities of Joe Biden, one of Trump’s main rivals in the presidential election of 2020, and his son Hunter Biden.
