The US Senate Proposed to Impose Sanctions Against Russia over Navalny’s Case
OREANDA-NEWS. Some US senators have introduced a bill on sanctions against Russia due to the incident with Alexei Navalny. Marco Rubio, one of the initiators of this bill, has written about it himself in his release on the website.
The proposed bill offers to impose some restrictions on Russian officials who, are are considered to be "involved in an open violation of international law," including the "poisoning" of Navalny, as its authors suppose.
According to this bill the American authorities have to report to Congress on the information about the finances of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his close high-ranking officials. In addition, the bill tries to make the White House to find out whether, in American authorities’ opinion, Russia has violated US laws prohibiting the use of chemical and biological weapons.
The proposed bill was approved by some Republican Senators including Marco Rubio and Mitt Romney, as well as Democrats Ben Cardin, Chris Van Hollen and Chris Koons.
To pass the bill, it must be supported by the Senate and House of Representatives and finally signed by the US President.
But the Russian Federation, in its turn, is going to impose retaliatory personal sanctions against the US senators who have offered this bill and who vote for it if it is accepted.
