OREANDA-NEWS. The United States included the head of the Syrian Defense Ministry Ali Abdullah Ayoub in the sanctions list. This was reported on the website of the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury. The reasons for this decision are not indicated.

The Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List includes individuals and companies that, in Washington’s opinion, are acting on behalf of foreign states against the USA. Their assets are blocked, and Americans are prohibited from doing business with them.

In February, the European Union included eight businessmen and two organizations: Al Qatarji and Damascus Cham Holding, in the sanctions list against the Syrian authorities and their supporters. The EU claimed that they benefited Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The assets of all persons in the sanctions lists are frozen, they are banned from entering Europe.
