The Speaker of the Russian Duma Spoke in Favor of Amendments to the Constitution
OREANDA-NEWS. The Chairman of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, at a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and lawmakers spoke out for a precise adjustment of the Constitution to solve the problem of the lack of connection between the levels of public authority in the country.
“The Constitution is a living tool. By your own words, it must correspond to the level of development of society, therefore separate careful changes are possible. The country is developing, many issues in the constitutional sphere really become topical. No matter how long we put off this conversation, but the time has its effect. This touches upon not only to the balance of branches of power (we discussed this issue with the factions in the State Duma), but also to local government, as you spoke about this earlier. Today there is no connection between the levels of public power. It affects the most important and sensitive areas for people,” Volodin said.
“If we have such an opportunity, it would be right to continue this conversation and come to some suggestions. Everyone has a feeling that we need to improve those areas… It will definitely benefit our citizens,” the speaker of the parliament added.
