The Soldier Who Fled to Belarus was Declared a Deserter in Poland
OREANDA-NEWS. The Polish Prosecutor General's Office has charged soldier Emil Chechko, who fled to Belarus, with desertion. This is reported by the official website of the Polish department. Earlier, Chechko requested political asylum in Belarus. On December 17, it became known that 25-year-old Chechko had crossed the Polish-Belarusian border. He escaped from the 11th Masurian Artillery Regiment, after which he was stopped by a patrol at the Tushemlya border post.
«Emil Chechko, a soldier who escaped abroad from Poland last week, is accused of committing a crime of desertion», the report says.
The soldier accused the Polish security forces of systematic murders of migrants, as well as two volunteers. According to him, he himself participated in the murders. Chechko believes that the situation on the territory of Poland bordering Belarus should be investigated by the Red Cross.
The Polish side rejected Chechko's accusations. Politician Marek Jakubiak said that Polish border guards could not kill refugees on the Belarusian border under any circumstances. He also reported on the possible involvement of Russia in the crimes.
