The President stressed that this is “not acceptable to us.” He accused the bipartisan Debate Commission of trying to protect his opponent.
The first debate took place on September 29.The second round was supposed to take place on October 15 in Miami. The decision to transfer the debate to a distance format was made “in order to protect the health and safety of all involved,” the Commission explained in its statement. This happened after the head of the White House was hospitalized with coronavirus infection.
