The New York Times Reported of Trump’s Recent Plans to Attack Nuclear Facility in Iran
OREANDA-NEWS. US President Donald Trump consulted with his advisers about a possible attack on a nuclear facility in Iran. This is reported by The New York Times, citing official sources close to the White House.
According to the publication, discussions on a possible attack took place on November 12, after international inspectors reported about significant increase in Iran’s nuclear stockpiles. The meeting was attended by Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, new chief of the Pentagon Christopher C. Miller and the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley. The New York Times writes that advisers discouraged the President from hitting Iran, since it could lead to widespread conflict in the last weeks of Trump in office.
The matter is an object near the city of Natanz in the central part of Iran – there is a plant, where uranium is enriched, 30 kilometers from it. The plant is one of the most important elements of the Iranian nuclear program. The International Atomic Energy Agency reported that Tehran’s uranium reserves are 12 times higher than those allowed by the nuclear deal, from which Washington withdrew in 2018.
