The New York Times Reported of Russian Interference in US Presidential Election to Help Trump
OREANDA-NEWS. Russian hackers gained access to some federal and local computer networks in the United States, which could allow Moscow to influence the presidential election. This was reported by The New York Times, citing sources in the American intelligence services.
Officials have not explained what they think Russia is planning to do, but they believe that the purpose of the activities is to help President Trump, the publication says.
So far, there is no evidence that Russian hackers have changed any vote counting mechanisms or voter registration information, the newspaper’s sources informed. At the same time, according to them, hackers can use access to networks to distort data, publish classified information or take other measures to sow the seeds of doubt in the reliability of the results.
The New York Times notes that American intelligence services are much more concerned about the actions of Russian hackers before the elections than cyber attacks from Iran.
