The Media Report that South Korea May Be Headed by Kim Jong-un’s Sister
OREANDA-NEWS. The Japanese newspaper Asahi reports, citing South Korean and American sources, that Kim Yo-jong, the younger sister of the South Korean leader Kim Jong-un, has now actually moved to the position of “person number two” in the highest Pyongyang hierarchy.
According to the publication, at the plenum of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea at the end of 2019, at insistence of Kim Jong-un, it was decided that in case of his disability the highest power in the country would be transferred to Kim Yong-jong.
Kim Yo-jong previously held the post of first deputy head of the Propaganda and Agitation Department of the Central Committee of the Party. According to sources, from the end of last year, she became the first deputy head of the Organizational Department of the Central Committee. On April 11, Kim Yo-jong was elected as a candidate member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee.
The newspaper links the growing influence of the sister with health problems that her elder brother is allegedly experiencing.
