OREANDA-NEWS. Moscow will prepare a response to the sanctions against Russian citizens imposed by Great Britain under the Magnitsky Act. This was announced by Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the President of Russia.

“The principle of reciprocity and retaliatory decisions will operate in the extent to which it will correspond to the interests of the Russian Federation,” Peskov said. According to the politician, the Kremlin administration can “only regret such unfriendly steps.”

On July 6, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom published a list of Russian citizens on whom sanctions are being imposed in accordance with the Magnitsky Act. There are 25 individuals, including Deputy Prosecutor General Viktor Grin, head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin, as well as other employees of the agency, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and institutions of the Federal Penitentiary Service. London considers them to be involved in the death of arrested lawyer Sergey Magnitsky in 2009.
