OREANDA-NEWS The Kremlin recognizes that there are excesses in applying the law on insulting state symbols and state institutions. This was said on Friday by the press secretary of the president, Dmitry Peskov.

Peskov recalled that on this issue, President Vladimir Putin had already spoken on a straight line in June. Then the head of state noted that the talk in the law is not about criticizing the authorities, but about fighting against the insult of the symbols of the state. At the same time, the head of state agreed that "no one has the right to abuse this norm in order to limit people in their right to criticize the current government at any level."

The President instructed the Prosecutor General’s Office to draw attention to the fact that law enforcement practice complied with the meaning of this law.
