The Kremlin has Declared Russia's Interest in a Dialogue with Japan
OREANDA-NEWS. Russia is interested in the dialogue with Japan and hopes for it's early resumption at the highest level. This was announced on Thursday, March 25, by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
He stressed, that Russian Leader Vladimir Putin has repeatedly communicated with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and then with his successor Yoshihide Suga in the last three or four years. According to Peskov, Russia is waiting for the resumption of dialogue as soon as circumstances allow.
Earlier, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said at a hearing in parliament, that Tokyo intends to solve the problem of the Southern Kurils through dialogue with Moscow. According to him, the joint Soviet-Japanese declaration of 1956 will be taken as a basis.
Moscow is also ready for an equal and mutually respectful dialogue with NATO, presidential spokesman said. According to the representative of the Kremlin, so far such initiatives have not been received, reports Russian media «TASS».
