OREANDA-NEWS. The incident connected to Maria Zakharova’s Facebook post about Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is a misunderstanding, Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian President, said. The politician assured that the Russian leadership continues to support the development of partnership between Moscow and Belgrade.

“Perhaps, indeed, there was a misunderstanding connected with some formulations. I know that my colleague has apologized,” Peskov said. “Our friendly partnership, strategic partnership with Serbia is essential. All without exception in the leadership of the Russian Federation… are committed supporters of the further development of our partnership. The Russian Foreign Ministry is doing a lot to develop these relations,” he added.

The reason for the conflict was the pose of Vucic at a meeting with the US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. Peskov noted that the Kremlin would have preferred a different way of accommodating the guest. “As for the emotional background, of course, here we can say that in European culture, if we talk about seating arrangements, we are certainly much closer to the round table of King Arthur,” he said.
