The Head of Crimea Commented on the NATO Statement Regarding This Peninsula
OREANDA-NEWS. The head of the Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, called the NATO statement on Russia's military build-up in the Crimean region a demagogic device. RIA Novosti news agency reported about it.
As Aksenov wrote on his page in the social network "VKontakte", the main purpose of such statements is to justify the increase in the presence of the alliance forces in the Black Sea region. He calls this move the usual demagogic technique, that is, shifting problems and responsibilities onto others.
According to Aksenov, the power of the Crimean grouping of the Russian Armed Forces corresponds to the existing threats and is sufficient to reliably and fully ensure the security of the Crimean region and its inhabitants.
Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine, fully agrees with the head of Crimea. He is confident that accusations by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg of building up military power in Crimea are his standard rhetoric, which should not be responded to.
The media reported that earlier NATO accused Russia of building up military power in the Crimea and the Black Sea, the organization responds by strengthening its presence in this region. Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also said that NATO allies are ready to continue investing in defense, and recommendations for strengthening the alliance will be presented at the 2021 summit.
