The Federation Council Commented on the Bill of the US Congress on Sanctions against Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. As the head of the international committee of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev told RIA Novosti, commenting on the bill of the US Congress on the imposition of sanctions against the Russian Federation in the blogger's case, the situation with Alexei Navalny is an exclusively internal affair of the Russian Federation, while the United States is trying to intervene in them.
The day before yesterday it became known that the Simonovsky Court of Moscow on Tuesday ruled to cancel Navalny's suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case and replace him with 3.5 years in a general regime colony.
After that, a group of US senators submitted to Congress a bill on the introduction of sanctions against the Russian Federation in the case of Alexei Navalny, the press release said.
Kosachev notes that the American congressmen do not miss a single occasion to put pressure on Russia. But in his words, "these are just reasons, not reasons."
According to the Russian politician, the situation with Navalny, no matter how one treats it, is "a purely internal affair of the Russian Federation, which has nothing to do with either the United States or bilateral relations."
Konstantin Kosechev is convinced that the threat of sanctions in the case of Navalny is "also interference in the jurisdiction of the Russian legal proceedings, which, as Congressmen and Senators should be well aware, is a violation of basic principles related to the rule of law."
