The Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan Declared Election Results Invalid
OREANDA-NEWS. The results of the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan were invalidated after the mass protests. Information about the cancellation of the results was confirmed in the press service of the country’s Central Election Commission.
“I believe that during this election campaign we have discredited ourselves, and therefore the best and most correct decision in this case would be the decision on early resignation of powers,” member of the Commission, Gulnara Jurabayeva, told reporters.
After the announcement of the voting results, protesters took to the streets of Bishkek. They went to storm the building of the White House and freed ex-President Almazbek Atambayev.
Current President of the country, Sooronbay Jeenbekov, previously did not rule out that the results of the elections could be annuled. At the same time, speaking of the protests, he said that “some political forces tried to illegally seize state power.”
