Sweden Declared a Threat of Military Escalation in the Baltic Region
OREANDA-NEWS. Associated Press reports, citing a document of the Military Intelligence and Security Service of Sweden, that the security policy situation in the Baltic Sea region has worsened, which means an increased risk of military incidents and confrontation.
The department notes that the situation in the region is still characterized by an increase in military activity. “The dynamics between the United States, China, Russia and the European Union also affects the security policy situation in the Baltic Sea region,” the department’s annual report for 2019 reads.
It is mentioned that in general, Russia is militarily inferior to the United States and NATO, but it has an advantage at the regional level, since in the event of a conflict, European countries will depend on American strengthening.
