Sofia Sapega, a Russian Woman Detained in Minsk, Said that There Were No Belarusian KGB Officers on the Ryanair Plane
OREANDA-NEWS. Sofia Sapega, a Russian woman detained at the Minsk airport, said that people from the entourage of her boyfriend Roman Protasevich were possibly involved in the forced landing of the Ryanair plane. She said this in an interview with the «Belarus 1» TV channel.
According to the girl, she «has always been far from political squabbles» and therefore would not like to make any assumptions. However, as she stated, from conversations with Roman, it was concluded that it was his working team that was involved in the landing of the plane. Roman Protasevich is the founder of the NEXTA Telegram channel recognized in Belarus as an extremist.
Sapieha said that the KGB officers of Belarus were not on board with them, thereby she refuted the existing version about the detention of Protasevich even before landing in Minsk.
Earlier, the Belarusian authorities announced their readiness for an international investigation of the incident with the plane of the Irish company Ryanair. The United States is also invited to it. This was stated by the Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko at the press conference.
The incident with the Ryanair flight occurred on May 23. After a fake message about a bomb, the plane landed urgently in Minsk. On board was the former editor-in-chief of the Telegram channel NEXTA Roman Protasevich, as well as his Russian girlfriend Sofia Sapega. They were removed from the flight, and then arrested. The opposition leader was accused of organizing mass riots. He admitted his guilt and began to actively cooperate with the investigation.
