Sandu Leads in the Presidential Election in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. The candidate from the pro-European Party of Action and Solidarity, Maia Sandu, won 35.94 % of the vote in the first round of the presidential election in Moldova after processing 99.63 % of the protocols.
The current head of state Igor Dodon scored 32.75 %. The third place is taken by the leader of Our Party, Renato Usatii, with 16.94 % of the votes.
The second round of the presidential election will take place, since none of the candidates scored the required threshold of 50 % and one vote. It is scheduled for November 15.
Earlier, Sandu, who was significantly behind Dodon in votes, reported of numerous violations during the electoral process. As for Dodon, he said that the election was held freely and democratically.
The turnout was almost 43 %. 1.2 million people voted in Moldova.
