Saakashvili Said the Economic Catastrophe in Ukraine Is Inevitable
OREANDA-NEWS. Former Georgian President, head of the Ukraine’s National Reform Council, Mikheil Saakashvili, said on the air of the TV channel Ukraine 24 that the country’s economy will soon face an inevitable catastrophe, and from the beginning of next year there will be problems with social payments.
"The Ukrainian economy is now heading for a big catastrophe. A very strong budget crisis is impending in Ukraine. Ukraine will have problems with paying salaries and pensions, starting next year,” Saakashvili warned.
He noted that the signing of an agreement with the International Monetary Fund will just postpone the crisis for several months. “There will be big problems with the payment of basic social obligations and salaries. This has not happened in Ukraine since the 1990s,” the politician stressed.
Saakashvili said that this situation is developing in conditions when the Ukrainian government “seems to exist in a parallel world,” practically not functioning and going to the abyss “with closed eyes.”
